About Capulator

MCOL’s Capulator™ is a powerful tool used to calculate required capitation rates, based upon utilization and cost per unit for specified items.

You can use Capulator to calculate and report your capitation requirements for an endless variety of scenarios and situations. Capulator allows you to use preset models provided by Milliman and Robertson to review nationwide average data, and to define the line items of your report. You can customize your own model, by copying a Milliman & Robertson preset model, or by building one from scratch. Please note, the M&R preset models can not be changed, you will first need to copy them if you wish to use them as the basis of your new customized model.

Your will typically need to provide at least two of the three data assumptions for each line item: utilization, cost or the actual capitation rate. Capulator can then calculate the third assumption for each line item. Capulator can also calculate the utilization assumption for you based upon baseline data you provide. Best of all, Capulator provides reports from the model you develop, and allows you to input various scenarios for each model.

There are five folders; each folder has one to three sections:

The Utilization Folder has two sections: Value and Calculator .

Cost Per Unit Folder

Indicates the cost per unit for each item, and generates a report. The Cost Per Unit Folder has one section: Cost Attributes .
